It's more than we thought

ADHD is complex. It commonly has co-morbid (i.e. coexisting) "mental" conditions such as anxiety and depression.

We are becoming aware that there are also physical components. Some of this information is not researched yet, and turns up in statistical correlations, that is,  it is reported to be more common in medical surveys. This means that people with ADHD are more likely to have these problems than the general population.

  • metabolic disorders
  • viral pneumonia
  • disorders of white blood cells
  • kidney failure
  • hypertension
  • obesity
  • type 2 diabetes
  • type 1 diabetes
  • migraine
  • asthma
  • atopic dermatitis
  • juvenile arthritis
  • glaucoma

The above from a report in ADDitude magazine. There has also been reports of vision problems including strabismus (cross eyed).

Much more research is needed. What in ADHD makes overweight more likely after eliminating know adhd eating stimulus is not known. The some question exists for eczema. ADHD is more than a neurotransmitter problem.
